Robert Saunders life in England before Transportation

So far very little information regarding Roberts Mother, Father and siblings have been uncovered. The first mention of Robert was when his court appearances began and then his marriage to Joan.

First Court appearance was on the 16th January 1817 when he was 19 years old, charged with Stealing Silver Spoons he is listed as a labourer. His place of origin is listed as Sherborne. The notes made about his complexion are hard to read and appear that Roberts face was very pitted and scarred from Small Pox. Other details regarding his appearance are noted but I am unable to decipher reads something about his finger and callous on right hand. Robert received 6 months hard labour discharged on the 14th September 1817.

Second Court appearance was in January 1818 in Somerset for Larceny he was given 6 months jail and was whipped.

Third Court Appearance was on the 10th July 1820 he was sentenced to 7 years transportation to Van Diemens Land for stealing Chickens.

Robert is described on his Criminal records as being
5 feet 7 1/2 inches tall

dark complexion
black hair and
brown or very dark hazel eyes
He was listed as 23 years old in 1820. He lists his birth place as Chettingdon, Dorsetshire. His face was pockpitted.
