To Mr Joseph Morgan
Chief Constable of the island of Van Diemens Land and to the keeper of Mrs Majesties Goal in Launceston in the island of Van Diemens Land and to each of them.
Whereas Ann Saunders of Evandale has been brought before me Robert Wales Esquire. One of her Majesties justices of the Peace for Van Diemens Land and its dependencies charged upon the oath of her husband Robert Saunders of the same place for that of she the said Ann Saunders hath committed a breach of peace in attempting to assault her daughter Annie Saunders with an axe a hammer and unlawful other weapons and ill using and endangering the lives of her children and husband.
Now ? the said Justice have ordered and ajudged and do hearby order and ajudge that the said Ann Saunders enter into her own recognizance in the sum of 100 pounds with two good and significant sureties in the sum of 50 pounds each, upon condition that she the said Ann Saunders shall keep the peace and be of good behaviour towards her majesty and all her liege subjects particularly toward the said Annie Saunders, Robert Saunders and his children for the space of six months and the said Ann Saunders having neglected to enter into such sureties as aforesaid: THESE are to command you the said Constables or either of you forthwith to convey and deliver in to custody of the said keeper of the said goal the body of the said Ann Saunders. And you the said keeper and hereby required and commanded here- upon immediately to receive the said Ann Saunders into your custody in the said Goal and her there in your custody securely to detain and keep for three calendar months unless in the mean time she enter into such sureties as aforesaid.
